Maruti Swift has been number one in terms of sales, with 14,869 units sold in August 2020. Its sales were 19.49 percent better than 12,444 units in August 2019. With this hatchback of the company, the entry model Alto has lagged behind.

Maruti Alto has sold 14,397 units in the last month, registering a huge growth of 42.22 percent over the previous year. The third side Maruti WagonR has sold 13,770 units, registering a growth of 20.77 per cent in sales.

Only the Maruti Baleno sales in the top 10 bestselling cars have declined, with the premium hatchback losing 2 percent in August with 10,742 units sold. This is followed by the seventh-placed Seltos SUV, with a 70 percent gain in its 10,655 units sold.

The Maruti Dzire has missed the third spot by just a few hundred units, with 13,629 units sold in August. However, its sales have registered a growth of only 2 percent. Maruti, which occupies the first five position, has lost the fifth place to Hyundai.

Hyundai's popular SUV Creta ranked fifth in August, with 11,758 units sold. The Creta SUV has been selling well since its arrival in the 2020 incarnation, registering a 95 per cent jump in sales.

The Hyundai Grand i10 is in eighth position with 10,190 units. This is followed by Maruti's MPV Ertiga and Eco. Sales of these three have also registered an increase. The top ten car sales recorded an average growth of 22 percent.
